Boston Red Sox Flags by Fenway Park

Best Restaurants Near Fenway Park

A visit to Fenway Park is like walking through a piece of history. Old brick walls with painted block letters line the stadium. Vintage style archways are met with peanut riddled linoleum floors. Uncomfortable yet iconic wooden seats merge into modern ones, and trinkets and treasures from season’s past are displayed for all baseball fans to see. The smell wafting through the bleachers is a mix of buttered popcorn, monster dogs, cotton candy, and fresh cut grass. It’s truly a magical place.

To make the most out of your trip to Fenway, I suggest arriving early and spending as much time as possible near the stadium. There are plenty of great places to eat, drink and people watch.

Eastern Standard

Man dining on Eastern Standard Patio laughing

Twinkly fairy lights hang above the spacious patio, and there is nothing quite like the energy at Eastern Standard before a game. Everyone is decked out in navy blue and red, with accents from all over the world echoing over each other as fans sip some of the best concocted cocktails in Boston. It’s about a 5 minute walk from the stadium, and is one of the best restaurants near Fenway for quality of food.

Wedge Salad Eastern Standard Boston

Island Creek Oyster Bar is a hop, skip and a jump from Eastern Standard. The Hotel Commonwealth separates these two, an incredible hotel to stay at if visiting from out of town! This oyster joint has beautiful high ceilings and a great bar. It’s a big restaurant, so chances are you will be able to get a table even in primetime. They take reservations too if you’d rather not risk it! Grab a plate of oysters and some wine and catch up on other teams in the league on the flatscreen tv’s above the bar.

Hojoko

Drinks on table at Hojoko

Situated in the Verb Hotel (another great Fenway Park hotel), Hojoko is funky Japanese restaurant near Fenway has amazing energy and just an eclectic, cool vibe to get you buzzing. And I mean that literally. One drink here and you’ll be ready to sing “Take me out to the ball game” a cappella (side note: I always thought that was one word before I googled it.. learn something new everyday!) If you’re a fan of negroni’s, they make one of the best in the city! Portion’s aren’t very big, so this is a perfect place if you plan on chowing down on a monster dog at the game.

Cornwall’s

Cornwall’s is the type of place you imagine when you think of old-timey Boston. If you picked up the pub and transported it to England, it would fit right in. Board games, dart boards, and a great tap beer selection, this dive-y sports pub will be sure to get you in the spirit for the big game.

Bleacher Bar

The Bleacher Bar in Boston Near Fenway

Bleacher Bar’s name says it all. It’s quite literally, a bar within the bleachers of Fenway. With a large garage door situated at field level, you can have a pint and stare out at the iconic stadium. This is a great standing room spot to come for a quick beer after dinner before scanning your ticket into the game. It’s got that basement grunge vibe going on, and I’m into it.

Loretta’s

Ahh Loretta’s. A country bar after my own heart. I’m a huge country music fan, so when I stumbled (literally, I was a few drinks deep) into Loretta’s, the boot stompin’ betty inside me couldn’t help but sing and dance around while sipping Ballast Point Sculpin’s. This is one of the restaurants near Fenway Park to come to after the game for some drinks and a great atmosphere.

Tapestry

Pizzzzzaaaaaaaaaaa. Need I say more? Tapestry was recommended by a local, so we made the trek (farther than most restaurants on this list but still walking distance). We shared a pizza and a few drinks on the patio and it had a great neighborhood feel to it, a bit removed from the craziness near Fenway. The decor on the dining room side is gorgeous! Be sure to take a peak if you’re sitting in the bar or on the patio.

Cask’n Flagon

Cask’n Flagon is another great choice for some pre-game action. You could throw a rock from the patio and hit the stadium. This is an epic people watching spot for day games. Sit in the sun and grab a cold one and nachos and count the number of people that AREN’T in Red Sox gear. You might be able to count on one hand. Gotta love sports fans in Boston.

El Palón Taqueria

Looking for something quick and delicious? Grab a burrito from this famous food stand for some Mexican street eats. Wash it down with a beer and head into Fenway!

House of Blues

I am strictly suggesting this for the Tangerine Express IPA. We stopped in for a quick drink and this beer quickly shot up to the top of my list of favorite IPA’s (sorry Sculpin). It’s a fun place to stop into if you’ve never been to a House of Blues. Look up concert listings during your stay, you never know who might be playing there! We went to a day game and followed it up with a concert that evening, stopping for dinner in-between.

Tip: If you are going to a concert, go to House of Blues for dinner to skip the entry line!

Alright, now I’m hungry! Hope this gave you some ideas for restaurants near Fenway to check out before the game!

Go Sox!
